It took me few pages to get completely hooked. After adjusting to the fine translation and getting accustomed to Kalo unique writing, I found myself truly absorbed in the story and the characters. From this point the book became part of my life."The Chosen" is the kind of novel one simply must include on his shelf. Comparable in a way to "Quo Vadis", "I Claudius" and "Ben Hur". A book one cannot forget. Highly recommended. Must read.

This is a fantastic novel! I read all three books both in English and in Hebrew. I am looking forward to reading them again on . It has everything a gripping story, colorful characters, love,hate, loyalty, betrayal... The author retells a Biblical story which perfectly applies to modern times as well. I would say that it instills in the reader a yearning for everything that's good, pure and sublime. I recommend this novel wholeheartedly. You won't be disappointed.
The entire three books describe a beautiful, deep, rich journey of Daniel, the biblical prophet, as he comes to full life and stands before us, in all his surroundings, acquaintances, close friends and family.
Daniel's character unfolds before us as a most inspiring, brave, wise, honest, loving man,
A man, who we, readers, are most fortunate to get to know so closely in this book.
Daniel throughout his youth and manhood, in all his thoughts, words and acts, is sure to uplift the reader into spiritual realms of highest purity and faith. Very much recommended.
I enjoy books that are about this era (and earlier) and Biblical. Its very hard to find really good ones because you want them to go along with the Bible but still enjoy the fiction aspect of the book. You get to know the characters very well.
This is a sequel to "The Chosen", Book one and comes before Book 3. I continues the life of the Biblical Prophet Daniel, from his being taken into captivity on thru the life of Nebuchadnezzar. Same great writing as book one, gets you ready to read book 3. Really made me think of Daniels relationship with GOD and how GOD'S love was demonsrated in Daniel's life as Daniel followed after GOD. Great reads, very hard to put down.
This is one of the unique literary works of Shlomo Kalo- The book takes the reader on a magical and inspiring journey to the old days of the prophet Daniel, yet there is a direct line between this epic era to our current present. Reading Shlomo Kalo's books- if you are honest enough you will very quickly find yourself looking inside your own self and touching your most inner challenges. “The chosen one” is a must read!
Shlomo Kalo is my new best Christian book auther. He writes so beautifully and effortlessly. His work, according to Scripture, follows the Word truthfully and wisely and opens up new understanding to the period. I read all 3 of "The Chosen" and loved learning more about Daniel and his mates in Babylon.
I love Biblical fiction because it helps me understand the context or frame of Bible characters better. I feel that many times we forget that except for Jesus, everyone in The Bible was as flawed as you and me. I like the angle that Shlomo takes. I like that I can guess some of Daniel's struggles. It makes him more human. An interesting extra Biblical read that has allowed me to read and understand the book of Daniel in new light.
